Music Step-Stone is a site which fulfills a need within the music industry.

As the employment market becomes increasingly competitive and insular, more people than ever are studying music courses at Universities and Colleges, striving to gain that first job that will set them on the path through the music industry. This can leave many feeling disillusioned and alienated towards the industry. The perception being that only those with contacts and experience have a chance of succeeding in the search for sustainable employment within the industry.

While some see this as a difficult process, at the end of the day it is the nature of the music industry. Therefore, the gaining of experience and contacts, as well as the development of relevant skills must be treated as equally important to any course or degree qualification.  

Music Step-Stone is exactly that. A stepping stone into the music industry. 

As the gaining of experience is vital to success, the site features a directory of music groups, projects and outlets throughout the country which offer voluntary opportunities.

With emphasis placed on the acquirement of industry relevant skills and contacts, there is a news and updates section devoted to publicizing events, courses and seminars that present networking and development opportunities. 

Also, in an effort to encourage dialogue there is a forum section open to anyone willing to contribute information on anything; experiences of industry/event/voluntary work, promotion of project, feedback on the site.
